Born in Guatemala and 38 years old, I have over 16 years of experience in international finance and banking, time over which I have accrued a comprehensive knowledge the Latin American financial markets evolution, stages, needs and challenges as well as potential synergies with other markets and untapped business opportunities.

My work experience includes roles such as VP of Business Development for Citigroup Latin America covering Financial Institutions and Public Sector, and more recently Regional Sales Head for global financial services companies including IHS Markit and The Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).

Besides sales, business development and relationship management, during my tenure as a banker I also managed the introduction into some latin american financial systems of new banking processes and rules. For example the training and implementation of The Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act (a.k.a. Check 21 Act) across banks and regulators in central america as well as the implementation of business operations continuity plans for strategic alliances between Citigroup’s branch extension network program and local banks in Guatemala.

Post 2008, I continued my professional growth on Data & Technology Services for pre-trade and post-trade OTC derivatives markets mostly focused on credit, rates and commodities working closely with central banks, industry associations, asset managers, pension and hedge funds, exchanges, IDBs and SEFs in finding solutions to comply with its changing and challenging regulatory environments.

Multicultural and fluent in four languages (Spanish, English, Portuguese and French) I am economist with a master’s degree in entrepreneurial economics from Universidad Francisco Marroquin and currently reside in NYC collaborating with Columbia University's Institute for Latin American Studies (ILAS)
